"Just Dance!!!!"

Hey!! It has been snowing a lot here. It doesn't stick and pile up like in some places, well so far, but it is substantial. We haven't done anything major yet. We just go to class, nap, and hang out with each other. Tomorrow we're going to Normandy, France. We have to leave at like 5:30 am because we're taking buses. To France.... We're going to be there all weekend.

We only have one more week of our British Politics class. After that our tutorials start. My English Legal System class is going to be taught by a real Oxford Law professor!! How cool is that?!?!?!? Well... I mean that's really scary too. We have an essay at the end of every week and more reading than I could ever tell yall about. Seriously I don't even understand what all those numbers mean! We're meeting him next friday at 12:30 so he can explain it to us. AHHHHHH!

I haven't heard from my other don who will be teaching me problems in democratic theory. I hate theory classes. I'm only taking it because we're required to have so many for the major. Anyway I also will have another seminar class taught by the amazing Dr. Bullock. He already memorized our names. Its pretty awesome and pretty scary haha.

Last night we went out as 80s tastic ppl! We had on bright pink shirts, sequined skirts, and purple/blue tights. It was hilarious. Kate even had a side ponytail. We dressed our friend Adam up in a puple shirt, hot pink tie, Sam's skinny jeans and a vest. It was amazing. Then in the club they played Martina McBride's Independence Day. So we stood in the middle and sang it like true Americans. haha

Well I'm gonna go do laundry and nap now! :)

I LOVE IT HERE!!!!!

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't been writing everyday, but we've been sooo busy. We got to the house on the 2nd. We thought the Paddington station was only 1 block from the hotel but it was actually 5. No that isn't a lot normally, but we were carrying massive amounts of luggage. Mine weighs 130-140 pounds total.... which is definately more than me. Haha Well we eventually made it, but the train doors shut just as we got our stuff on. We ended up in Oxford around 11:00 am.

The house is so amazing. I live on the 3rd floor with 3 roomates: Kate, Trish, and Sam. Our room is pretty much huge, and we have our own bathroom. We've been getting along really well. I really like them and the housemates too! I feel like I'm part of The Real World or Big Brother or something though haha. There are 40 people living here including 20 of us SPIA ppl and 20 law students. I loove the law students. I always ask them a/b what its like and everything. They're really nice and helpful. I'm gonna recruit some of them as LSAT tutors haha. Our house is beautiful and very well equipped. I mean it is a Victorian mansion.... go figure.

Our lecture is going really well too. I like the professor a lot. The British system is so different from ours. It's really awesome to learn about. It starts at 10am each morning so we leave at 930 to get there on time. We walk.

We went out for the first time the other night with all of the housemates. It was really fun and we had a great time. The British people are really different though. The girls look like punk rockers and the guys love americans. (THANK GOD!!!! YAY!) haha Term hasn't started yet, and wont until the week after next, so most of the students aren't back yet. I can't wait to meet them though!

Yesterday we got sworn into the Bodleian library. It is the most amazing thing I've ever seen. It has the first copy of every book published in England since the 1600s and millions of others. There are over 10 million total, and it is spread out among multiple buildings. Our library cards are hot pink and lime green! I swear!!!! Isn't that the best thing ever?!?!?!? It was meant just for me: that's my sign. What library has pink and green cards? Especially the world-famous Bodleian. WOW!

We also went on a walking tour. It is breathtaking here. I wish I could show you all. I have a video camera. There isn't any video yet, but there will be tomorrow!!! I'm going to film some after class. Well I have to go now because I'm sooo busy. I have chapters to read, a shower to take, and a column to write!

I woke up today in London...

I'm soo tired. I had to write that article for the paper already, and I don't really feel like writing it all again. But I'll put a little bit. First off, we made it. We're currently at our hotel in central London and it is 10:30pm. We are 5 hours ahead here so it is only 5:30 where you are. I've created a photobucket album for my pics so that family and friends can see them. Here's the link. http://s413.photobucket.com/albums/pp212/kelli16/ I will try to add pics daily but I can't promise anything. Also I have skype and my username is kelli1216 for those of you who want to do that. I don't have a schedule yet because I wont actually get to my program until tomorrow.

We arrived at Gatwick an hour late at 8am, wandered around the airport aimlessly, bought train tickets to somewhere..., rode the subway thing to the south terminal, took forever to get to the train station (I mean we each had 2 carry-ons and 2 super heavy suitcases, you walk around airports, train stations, and down the street like that and see how hard it is!), made it on the train, had to sit in the handicapped area b/c our luggage wouldn't fit, made it off the train, got a cab, drove around, made it to the hotel who wouldn't let us check in early... it was 10:30 am check in wasn't until 2pm, left our luggage there, wandered around the streets with no maps or idea of where we were going, found Kensington Gardens on accident thought it was pretty and took pics, went in search of cell phones so we could call home, lots of the places were close due to new years, found one, bought it, have called my mom twice! :D, its really cheap so it doesn't even matter- only 2p per min., Sam ate at MacDonalds, I ate at KFC, they had chicken! and bbq sauce!!!!!, came back to hotel, checked in, lugged luggage to second floor room, Kelli went to sleep, Sam took a shower, Sam went to sleep, Kelli's online but about to take a shower. Anyway end of story is we're pooped! Our train in the morning leaves at 9:51 from Paddington across the street to Oxford. We will be there by 11. Then we will have to unpack :( and settle in.

"And I said goodbye to you..."

Today is officially my last day in America. Sam and I are leaving at 6:25 tomorrow. I booked a hotel and train tickets to Oxford in advance so all we have to do is get there. I talked to her earlier, and we're both really excited. I guess I could be scared or nervous, but I'm not. I'm thankful for this amazing opportunity. I am sad though. I'm going to miss my mommy and my dogs, especially Payton, very much. Maybe, a very slim chance, I might miss my friends too. Okay, okay, I'm obviously kidding. I'm going to miss them bunches too!

I packed my bags: 2 suitcases, a duffle, and a large Vera bag. It was a close call, but I managed to fit it all in! (Including my favorite 6 pair of shoes.) I really think I'm forgetting something... hmm, at least its not my passport!

In addition to packing, I met with Mrs. Carol Porter of the Courier-Herald today. (For those of you who don't know, the Courier-Herald is our local daily newspaper.) I'm going to be writing a daily column for the paper about my time in England. Its a great opportunity, and I am very excited!!! So bloggers, if you don't subscribe, you should do so immediately so you can read my articles!! The paper has a website at www.courier-herald.com if you want to check out the articles there!

Well I have to go through everything one last time, charge my ipod, and visit with the fam. I'm not sure what tomorrow's schedule is going to be like or if I'll get around to posting then. I want to wish everyone a happy and safe New Year! Here's to 2009 and making our dreams come true!!!

11 Days and Counting...

So, I have 11 more days before I leave for Oxford. Sam and I are leaving on December 31st from Atlanta. Our plane arrives at Gatwick around 7am on the 1st. We're gonna chill in London that day and then head out for oxford on the 2nd. We have to be at our residence by 4pm for check in. (Or else they'll freak out and start looking for us...)

At this point in my preparation, I haven't done much. No packing, no organizing, nothing. Just eating lots of holiday goodies and trying to spend time with all of the people I will miss VERY much. :( Of course they say absence makes the heart grow fonder. I believe that, and I would never want to miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. So I'm going! I'm super exicted right now, and tomorrow I'm going to begin packing and preparing. Booo They'll only let me bring 2 suitcases, and a carry on. Really?!?!?! I mean I have too many shoes for that. Guess I'd better work something out.

Anyway, I will be updating my blog as much as possible so that all of my friends can keep up with my activities. If it goes several days with no update, someone please contact the American embassy in the UK. Thanks.
